Our Mission
Naturepedic exists to reimagine the spaces in which we rest, restore, and live. Through more natural materials, thoughtful design, and complete transparency, we create certified organic mattresses, bedding, and furniture for the whole family: our babies, our children, our pets, ourselves. At our core, we are guided by a belief that our homes should support our well-being, our growers and makers, and the world we all share.

Our Founder
In 2003, Board-Certified Environmental Engineer Barry Cik went crib mattress shopping for his first grandchild but couldn't find a single option made without questionable chemicals, harmful waterproofing, and hazardous flame retardants. He knew his family and families everywhere deserved better — and thus, Naturepedic was born. Barry, along with his sons, Jeff and Jason, still run the business, now offering certified organic mattresses and accessories for babies, kids, adults, and even pets.
More About BarryWe all have the power to effect change with the simple choices we make.

Minimized Chemical Exposure
There are 85,000+ synthetic chemicals used in the manufacturing of consumer goods, and only a few have been tested for human health. Unlike conventional mattresses that off-gas endocrine-disrupting phthalates, carcinogenic formaldehyde, and more, Naturepedic says no — for your sake and the Earth’s sake. But, don’t take our word for it. We’re EWG Verified®, certified MADE SAFE®, and GREENGUARD Gold certified, too.
Our Nontoxic Approach
No Flame Retardants or Fiberglass
Flame retardants have been linked to neurological disorders, reproductive problems, and more. And flame barriers like fiberglass? Yikes. Naturepedic meets all government flammability regulations without any chemical flame retardants or barriers. Better materials — and better intentions.

Only Good Things
Naturepedic eliminates polyurethane foam, vinyl, phthalates, and other questionable materials found in conventional mattresses. Instead, we use healthier materials like organic cotton and wool, GOTS-approved latex, FSC® controlled wood, plant-based PLA made from non-GMO sugarcane, and encased coils that we manufacture in-house from recycled steel.

Cleaner Mattress, Cleaner Planet
More than 20 million mattresses end up in landfills across the U.S. each year, leaching toxic chemicals that harm our soil, air, waters, and wildlife. When you sleep on a certified organic mattress and bedding, you’re a part of a much bigger solution tonight and every night, for generations to come.
Committed to Sustainability
We cherish the Earth’s power to heal us, and we pledge to be a part of healing the planet, too. In fact, as a 1% for the Planet® Member, we pledge 1% or more of our annual mattress sales to environmental organizations. We’ve spent decades fighting toxic chemicals alongside our friends from dedicated non-profits and advocacy groups.
We were also the first organic mattress brand to be:
MANUFACTURING & QUALITY
Not all mattresses are created equal.
We handcraft ours in our own GOTS-certified organic factory in Chagrin Falls, Ohio to ensure comfort, quality, and sustainability in every stitch. We prioritize material recycling in our factory and our designs, and are working towards being zero waste by 2027.
AMERICAN FARMS & FACTORY
Where your mattress comes from matters just as much as where it’s made.
We trace our organic materials from farm to bed to ensure quality materials every step of the way. That means having close relationships with the families who grow our cotton fill in Texas and the cotton ginners who process it.
Learn MoreTRANSPARENCY & TESTING
Our policy is honesty — and proof.
We believe it’s not organic unless it’s certified organic, and we’re transparent about our organic material sourcing and the stringent standards we uphold. No compromises.
