Organic Muslin Crib Sheets FAQs

Muslin's open, loosely woven structure makes it naturally more breathable than tightly woven fabrics like jersey or percale. This allows heat and moisture to move away from Baby's body rather than building up, which is especially helpful for newborns who are still developing their ability to regulate body temperature. It also softens beautifully with use, making it gentler on skin the more you wash it.

Both are made from GOTS-certified organic cotton, but the weave creates a different experience. Muslin crib sheets are loosely woven and gauzy — they feel airy and barely-there, with maximum breathability. Sateen crib sheets are more tightly woven with a smooth, slightly silky finish — they feel softer and more luxurious, but are less breathable than muslin. Muslin is the better pick if temperature regulation is your top priority; sateen is a good choice if you want a softer, more polished look and feel.

These sheets are designed to fit standard crib mattresses (28" x 52") up to 6 inches deep. They fit all standard Naturepedic crib mattresses and most standard crib mattresses on the market. If you have a mini crib or oval crib mattress, these sheets won't be the right fit.

For general hygiene, washing crib sheets once a week is a good baseline — more frequently if there are any spills or accidents. These sheets are designed to hold up well to regular washing and get softer over time, so don't be shy about laundering them as often as needed.

These sheets are sold individually so you can stock up on the quantity that works for your rotation. We recommend having at least two or three on hand for convenient switching during laundry cycles.
