Organic Waffle Baby Blanket FAQs

A waffle blanket is a beautiful gift for a newborn, but it's not intended for unsupervised infant sleep. Both the AAP and CPSC recommend that babies under 12 months sleep on a firm, flat surface with no loose blankets in the sleep space. This blanket is perfect for supervised snuggling, strolling, feeding, tummy time, and all the cozy moments in between.

Our waffle baby blanket is made from GOTS-certified organic cotton — meaning the cotton was grown without GOTS-prohibited synthetic pesticides or herbicides, and the finished product was processed without prohibited dyes or chemical fabric treatments. The entire finished blanket is GOTS-certified, not just the raw materials.

Yes. Unlike many conventional baby blankets, ours contains no chemical flame retardants. We never use them — in any of our baby products.

Not at all. The waffle weave creates a raised, textured surface, but the organic cotton is soft and gentle — especially after washing. Each blanket is pre-washed before shipping so the softening process has already begun. It only gets cozier from there.

The baby blanket measures approximately 30" x 40" — a versatile receiving blanket size that works well for swaddling newborns, draping over a stroller, or snuggling during feeds and tummy time.

It can be used as a light swaddle wrap for newborns under supervision, but it's not a purpose-built swaddle with fasteners. For a more structured swaddle option, we also offer our Organic Breathable Swaddle Blankets.
