Muslin is gauzy and barely-there, with four lightweight layers woven loosely for maximum airflow and a relaxed, crinkled drape. Waffle blankets are more structured, with a raised grid pattern that adds dimension and a plush, squishy feel. Muslin is the better pick if breathability is your top priority; waffle works well if you want a bit more texture and warmth.

Yes, with the right layering. Muslin is at its best as an all-season layer — it’s light enough to use on its own in warmer months and easy to stack under a heavier duvet insert when temperatures drop. It's particularly well-suited for people who sleep warm, since the open weave allows heat to move freely away from the body.

A small amount of initial shrinkage is normal with natural fibers, but our blankets are pre-washed before shipping to minimize this. After the first wash, the fabric stabilizes and the natural crinkled texture sets in, which is part of what makes muslin look and feel the way it does.

The adult sizes (Twin/TwinXL, Full/Queen, King/CalKing) are sized to fit standard adult beds as a layering piece or standalone top blanket. The kids size is scaled to a twin/full bed and is ideal for layering on a kids bed or using as a cozy, lightweight throw.
